Your opinions are part of your growth phases, and authentic growth occurs when you accept your phases.
So I know the quote at the bottom by Dr. Seuss sounds a little cliche, but if you'd set aside your pride for a moment you might get something out of this. Also (like most things in life), try not to interpret things too literally. Self-expression and individuality is good, but if it becomes conflicting or parasitic toward others... you've got some introspective work to do. And while I cannot do it for you I can give you a hint: self-love is unconditional, never limit that. However the "chiseling" of yourself (growth in humility) comes only from empirical interaction with the world around you. That's all.
